It has been widely reported that instances of number plate theft is on the increase and there have been campaigns to prevent this through securing the plates to the vehicle in a more robust manner. However there is a trend that the criminals stealing these plates don’t bother with personalised number plates. It stands to reason that if they want to keep a low profile during their criminal activities why would they draw attention to themselves with stolen private plates. Witnesses are far more likely to remember the car and even the occupants if the car stands out in any way.
