Liam Neeson is an irresistible force
April 29th, 2009
Liam Neeson is an unstoppable force in Taken, an high power thriller from director Pierre Morel. Taken blu-ray does have a few obvious weaknesses, but there wasn’t a second that went by when I wasn’t engrossed or glued to my seat. And when I’m going see a brainless action movie, that is the thing I care about most. Bringing the same screen poise and gravity that he needs to more serious roles like those in Schindler’s List and Kinsey, Liam Neeson turns the relatively generic Taken into a better-than-average action picture. What Taken lacks in plausibility, imagination, political correctness and basic regard for human wellbeing it compensates for with a fast pace — going straight from the eyes and ears to the adrenal glands.
